Saving Our Strays (SOS)Penang – The Humane Way!
We are excited to be able to contribute to support (SOS) Penang in their efforts to saving our strays. For the past few years, there have been a many good samaritans and animal lovers who’s been taking care of strays (dogs & cats) on their own accord, feeding them and making sure they can live out their natural life around the neighbourhood and streets of Penang.
Speaking to Sarah West, a true animal lover, who’s been active in SOS Penang(NGO) on stray animal welfare for the past few years, states that they are facing a problem with the strays multiplying, citing “We can’t keep up with the ever increasing number of dogs and cats abandoned or born homeless.” This problem could eventually lead to more serious issues that could affect health if not taken care of.
“If everyone adopted, the problem would be solved, as we believe every life is worth it”, says Sarah. She herself have adopted many dogs and cats over the years. However, for every stray that is adopted, six more are born or homeless. This is where SOS Penang is making great efforts with their TNR – Trap, Neuter, Release (or Rehome) program. Since 2012, they have neutered over 3000 dogs and cats and also helped vaccinate many strays. They have a ‘no kill’ policy and treat each stray as a community pet.
We are fortunate to be able to help in our own little way…
